Jonathan Stittle has recently settled a rather unusual case where a local cyclist was knocked off his bike by a driver turning left who failed to check their nearside wing mirror before making the turn that led to the collision.
Our client, a man in his 30’s, was fortunately not seriously injured but still received compensation of nearly £9000. An unusual feature of the case was that more than half of the damages were to cover the cost of replacing the client’s custom-built racing bicycle.
Liability was accepted at an early stage and Court Proceedings were not required.
Whilst cycling is gaining in popularity, sadly this is reflected by an increase in claims like this. We are seeing more cases where the bicycles that are damaged cost more to replace than many cars.
